PRIMA is warming up its engines and calls on 40 quality companies
The new event launched by Pratotrade is preparing
for the opening at the Fortezza da Basso
with a group of selected exhibitors
Today there will also be PRIMA – Moda Tessuto alongside the fair events presented today in Milan by Pitti Immagine in the spotlight of the national and international fashion press.
The new event promoted by the Pratotrade consortium, scheduled at the Fortezza da Basso at the same time as Pitti Filati (from July 7 to 9, 2009), is starting it take its place on the scene of high category events reserved for the fashion world.
The numbers it announces are important, even from the first edition, with about forty exhibitors, some from abroad, like Germany and Japan, as well as from various Italian districts, that have taken up the challenge to offer their high quality fabrics on the market along with those of the yarn manufacturers.
Right on target, therefore, just a month and a half after the announcement of the new fair in Florence: during that time the organization machine of Pratotrade has been running in high gear to bring well-selected, high profile names of companies into a container designed to group, in a unified showcase, the “raw material” of textiles and yarns. With a basic strategy, that is the same that inspired the policy of the event: to be “first”, in this case it means moving in advance of the traditional fair dates, to allow the companies to program their work and fabric collections. “And the companies – notes Alessandro Benelli, president of Pratotrade – understand the new stimuli that are coming from the market. All the more reason to redouble their efforts to innovate, in hard times like these, and wager against the crisis and all the difficulties of investment”.
The exhibitors think the idea of bringing fabrics into the showcase of yarns is a winner, and it gives them the opportunity to offer what are largely final collections already in July. It will be a full scale feast of fashion, with the language of yarns and fabrics producing unusual, interesting juxtapositions, and with the designers at work (once again, the trend guru Li Edelkoort will cooperate with Prato grade) to find points of exchange and contact between trend areas referring, respectively, to PRIMA and Pitti Filati.
”We will develop a specific fair layout – announces Vincenzo Pagano, director of Pratotrade – to link the fabric section with that of the yarns, without altering the typical specificity of the two fairs. In particular, visitors to PRIMA will be able to view the trends of Pitti Filati, and then examine the trends and innovations in fabrics”.
